About the Role

As a Data Security Engineer, you will help our clients protect their most critical data across modern data platforms and Microsoft 365 environments. You will work directly with customers to design, implement, and operate data security solutions, focusing on Microsoft Purview security capabilities such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) for Copilot

This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you translate security, compliance, and governance requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions across cloud data platforms, analytics environments, and collaboration tools like SharePoint, Teams, and M365

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement data security and information protection solutions using Microsoft Purview security modules 

  • Configure and operate Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies across data platforms, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, and endpoints 

  • Implement Information Protection capabilities including sensitivity labels, encryption, and automatic classification 

  • Configure and manage Insider Risk Management scenarios to detect and mitigate data exfiltration and misuse 

  • Implement Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) for Copilot, ensuring secure and compliant use of Copilot across data platforms and M365 

  • Secure data access across cloud data platforms (e.g. Azure, analytics platforms, data lakes, warehouses) 

  • Support customers in defining and enforcing data security policies, standards, and controls 

  • Integrate Purview security capabilities with data governance, Unified Catalog, and access management workflows 

  • Automate security and access processes using APIs, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code approaches 

  • Conduct security assessments, gap analyses, and remediation planning for customer environments. 

  • Collaborate with data governance, data platform, and business stakeholders to align security with business needs 

  • Support customers during audits, compliance reviews, and security incidents 

  • Contribute to internal best practices, accelerators, and reusable security patterns 

Requirements

Technical Skills 

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview security modules, including: 

  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP) 

  • Information Protection (sensitivity labels, encryption) 

  • Insider Risk Management 

  • Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), especially for Copilot 

  • Solid experience securing Microsoft 365 environments (SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, OneDrive) 

  • Practical experience securing access to Databases,data warehouses , cloud data and AI platforms including cloud native services as well as open source (Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Kubernetes) 

  • Understanding of data classification, labeling, and protection strategies 

  • Knowledge of data lifecycle security (creation → storage → processing → sharing → deletion) 

  • Working knowledge of Encryption concepts (at rest, in transit) and type of encryption keys (customer managed, vendor managed) 

  • Experience with identity and access management concepts (e.g. Entra ID / Azure AD, RBAC, Service Accounts, Secrets handling) 

  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001) 

  • Experience with automation and integration (PowerShell, APIs, Terraform) 

  • Ability to participate in data breach investigations and carrying Root cause analysis and remediation planning. 

  • Knowledge of Zero Trust security principles 

 

Professional Skills 

  • Client-facing experience in consulting or professional services environments 

  • Ability to translate security and compliance requirements into technical controls & implementations. 

  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders 

  • Structured, solution-oriented working style 


Nice to Have 

  • Microsoft Security certifications (e.g. SC-400, SC-300, AZ-500) 

  • Experience with data governance tools and data catalogs 

  • Experience with AI security, Copilot governance, or GenAI risk management
